Feeling Artsy: Ghost Feet Halloween Cards

Will and I had a busy morning. We made what might be my favorite art project so far. It was a lot of fun (for both of us). I wanted to try it out and post it, so others could steal the idea and have them in the mail for Halloween.

We made Halloween cards using Will's feet. We only made a few today (for the grandparents and great grandparents), but I'm hoping he will want to do it again in a few days, so we'll have enough for the aunts and uncles, too.

The supplies:

I used white Crayola washable paint and smeared it (maybe a tablespoon) on a small paper plate. Will is sitting in the photo, but I actually had him stand on the table. I put his foot in the paint and then stamped it on the paper. He held on to me and balanced on one foot. He LOVED this part. I don't think he could believe what was happening because we always have to tell him to keep his feet OFF the table when he's sitting down for dinner. In fact, he was in time out for putting his feet on the table just yesterday.

When we had some nice little ghost bodies on the paper,  we waited for the paint to dry.

While the paint dried, Will practiced using his new scissors, and I cut scrapbook paper to make postcards.

Next, I painted little ghost eyes and mouths on the footprints. Will practiced his painting skills as well.

After this paint dried, I cut out the footprint ghosts (leaving a small border around each ghost).

Finally, it was time to put the cards together. I used photo mounting tape to put the ghosts on the postcards and stickers to create little sayings like "Boo" and "Happy Halloween." I wanted the sayings to stick out a little, so I used foam mounting tape (I actually doubled it). It worked great.

Will put it best when he saw the final product and said, "Awesome!"

Will is napping now, and I'm going to continue my Felicity marathon. I watched the first three episodes of season one yesterday while Will was napping (the reason I didn't post anything), and I'm hoping to watch one or two today. I still LOVE that show.  :)

  3. So cute! I remember doing this with Ella and Colin. OH! You need to make bats -- Will's handprints can be the bat wings. It is super fun, too. :) Happy Halloween!
